The Maker

“I think perfection is ugly. Somewhere in the things humans make, I want to see scars, failure, disorder, distortion.”  ― Yohji Yamamoto

“One would think my first love would have been metalsmithing, but it wasn’t. I grew up on a small farm in Iowa where I developed my love for drawing, rock hunting and exploring the unusual. My dream was to work in illustration, mostly in costume design. I ended up taking a metals class as part of my program in college and the rest is history. Since then I have been forging my own path through metalsmithing, which is represented through the bodies of my work. I am here to do something different.” — Elizabeth Mason-Doubet
